📊📈 Handling Business Disruptions

Imagine this scenario: your laptop crashes, and with it, your customer data, contracts and content. Without a backup, that crash could cost you days, or even your business!

Backups are not optional, and there are a lot of good, affordable options. Think of a data backup as a safety net for your business.

Many people think that Google Workspace or Microsoft OneDrive provides a backup. They don’t, they provide replication. A true backup can’t be modified, where a replicated file can be.

Use 3 Layers of backup:

  • one on your computer

  • one on an external hard drive

  • one online in the cloud

Schedule backups to automatically run. Usually, you want to do a full backup at least weekly, with daily incremental backups.

Test your backup - don’t wait for a computer crash to find out if your backup worked. Pick one file and test the restore.

🧓🏼 Medicare & Social Security Fraud

Scammers know we’re overwhelmed with the Medicare changes coming soon.

Scammers also love to target Social Security Numbers(SSN) and Medicare account information. They’ll pose as government reps, health providers or even call about new cards or changes to trick you into sharing personal details. With your SSN or Medicare information, they can open accounts, file false claims or drain your benefits.

Beware Medicare Fraud

Never give out Medicare account or SSN information over the phone. Government agencies will never ask you for that information on the phone.
Check your statements. Make sure the services listed on Medicare are services you actually received. Call Medicare directly 1-800-MEDICARE if you suspect fraud.
Freeze your credit Our Christmas in July newsletter details what a credit freeze is and how to freeze your credit.
Talk with Family Members. Make sure others in your family know to be aware of potential scams and fraud.
