👀 How to Check If Your Email or Password Was Compromised
Use Have I Been Pwned (HIBP)
Go to haveibeenpwned.com and enter your email address.
If your email shows up, HIBP will list which breaches included it which is invaluable for knowing where to focus your password resets.
You can also check passwords (please only check old or unused ones!) on the “Pwned Passwords” page.
Subscribe to HIBP’s notification service to get alerts if your email appears in future breaches.
✅ If You’re Affected: What to Do Immediately
It’s important to act quickly - the data will be sold to many other hackers and scammers. The faster you act, the less chance they have to use the password information.
🚨 Change your passwords
📦 Add another layer of protection - set up a text message, email or authenticator app to make sure it’s you and only you, accessing your account
“💸 Use a password manager -like 1Password or Bitwarden - you can set up more complicated passwords and easily change them during a widespread breach
Stay vigilant - monitor your accounts for unusual activity
